Le Golem: The Legend of Prague

This is the classic film, shot on location in pre-war Czechoslovakia, about the golem, a popular medieval figure originating in Talmudic lore.  According to legend, this extraordinarily powerful "body without a soul" was created in the Middle Ages by Rabbi Judah Loew in order to protect and defend the Jewish ghetto.  Here, the Jews of Prague are threatened and the Golem is summoned to help.
