Rachel’s Tomb
For over three thousand years, Rachel’s Tomb has been the continuous focus of
Jewish prayers. The Biblical Matriarch, Rachel, wife of Jacob and mother to
Joseph and Benjamin, died in childbirth and was buried by Jacob near Bethlehem,
on the road to Efrat. Over the centuries, her tomb has been depicted in
Haggadahs, prayer books and travel accounts world over. Her presence has been
deeply felt by all who come to visit her burial site. Perhaps, that is because
according to tradition, Rachel’s soul continues to weep at her children’s pain
and rejoice at their happiness. Come, take a short trip with us to Bethlehem -
Mother Rachel is waiting for you!
